For the Reporter

Spc. Christian Ackerman, of the Washington National Guard, heads to the United States Military Academy's Preparatory School in July.

"I want to continue to serve and improve," said Ackerman, a geospatial imagery analyst from Auburn who is assigned to the Guard's 81st Brigade Special Troops Battalion.

Ackerman, an Auburn Mountainview High School graduate and Green River and High line community college student, joined the Guard two years ago.

"He is an outstanding young soldier who has a great plan for his future," wrote Capt. Joseph Siemandel, Ackerman's company commander.

Ackerman said that he is interested in the academy's engineering program and would like to continue to work in the intelligence field.
