Mural magic

Urban ArtWorks, a local non-profit organization that works with at-risk youth to produce public art, dedicated a youth-created mural in the heart of Auburn last week. Mayor Pete Lewis was there to recognize the artists and workers responsible for the mural, located on the rear wall of the Auburn 1 Collision building, 233 W. Main St. The mural, titled ‘Mountains and Rivers Without End’, was painted this summer during an Artworks’ program for local at-risk youth, a joint project of the King County Superior Court’s Community Programs, Auburn Youth Resources/Severson House, the City of Auburn Arts, Parks and Recreation and ArtWorks. The mural features images that reflect Auburn’s natural beauty, with trees, butterflies and Mount Rainier. The mural was designed by ArtWorks’ artist Jesse Brown. -
