A house fire early Monday evening in a neighborhood west of Green River Community College needed crews from the Valley Regional Fire Authority, the City of Kent, South King Fire and Rescue and Mountain View Fire and Rescue to beat back.

No civilians or firefighters were injured.

Fire fighters were dispatched at 5:15 p.m. to an attached garage fire at 31450 117th Place SE, near the college in the Lea Hill area.

Arriving crews found the garage completely engulfed in flames and the fire extending to the second story. Firefighters attacked the conflagration from outside to knock down the main body of fire while interior crews completed a search of the building to confirm that nobody was inside.

Investigators from the South King County Fire Investigation Task Force determined the cause of the two-alarm residential fire to be accidental in nature. The fire started in the garage wall near where the electrical meter base enters the structure.

Damage to the home is estimated to be $350,000. One vehicle parked in the driveway sustained damage. No nearby homes where affected.
