Valley Com dispatched firefighters from the Valley Regional Fire Authority at 2:20 p.m. Friday to a report of a brush fire in the 1300 block of Main Street in Auburn next to Highway 167.

Arriving firefighters discovered a brush fire threatening several nearby businesses and took quick action to prevent damage to nearby structures and an area containing stacks of plywood and propane tanks.

Nobody was hurt, and investigators are trying to determine the cause of the fire.

Given the extreme dry weather conditions and the elevated fire danger, the Valley Regional Fire Authority encourages people to use extreme caution with barbecues, smoking materials, fireplaces and recreational fires.
