Fire & rescue blotter | Aug. 21

The Valley Regional Fire Authority responded to 192 calls for service between Aug. 10 and Aug. 16, among them the following:

Aug. 10

Aid call: 10:01 p.m., (Pacific). Firefighters used a vacuum splint to immobilize an open leg fracture, and American Medical Response transported the injured party to Saint Francis Hospital.

Aug. 11

Aid call: 9:40 a.m., (Lea Hill). Firefighters and Medic 6 personnel administered IV therapy to an unresponsive patient with low blood sugar. The patient recovered rapidly and stayed at home with a family member.

Aug. 12

Motor vehicle accident: 7:23 p.m., (Auburn). Firefighters treated a patient for a neck injury he or she had sustained in a single-car accident and transported the person to Auburn Regional Medical Center.

Aug. 13

Aid call: 6:05 p.m., (Pacific). Firefighters used bedding as a make-shift stretcher to move a terminal patient comfortably from her bedroom down a narrow hallway to an awaiting gurney. American Medical Response then transported the woman to Good Samaritan Hospital.

Aug. 14

Aid call: 3 p.m., (Auburn): Firefighters and Medic 6 personnel provided IV therapy to a diabetic patient. The treatment enabled the person to remain at home.

Aug. 15

Small fire: 3:07 p.m., (Auburn). Firefighters extinguished a smoldering picnic table in the park on 22nd Street Northeast. Witnesses provided suspect information to the Auburn Police Department.

Aug. 16

Rollover accident: 2:38 p.m., (Auburn). Firefighters examined two patients who were involved in a single-car rollover accident on Highway 167. No injuries were found, and the occupants were left in the care of the Washington State Patrol.
