Construction crews at work on the R Street utility project struck a water main near Auburn Way South and 17th Street Southeast early this morning, flooding parts of Auburn Way South and J Street.

City crews began repairs immediately, and by 10 a.m. the break had been repaired, according to Dana Hinman, communications manager for the City of Auburn.

"They are flushing the system now, and service will be restored to customers. We're aiming for noon, but it will be probably be before noon," Hinman said.

Northwest Cable News has video and an early report.
