State Troopers make 296 DUI arrests over holiday weekend

This Labor Day Holiday Weekend it wasn’t just the cops looking for DUI’s. Washington State Troopers responded to 44, 911 calls initiated by motorists.

When the troopers were able to make contact with the suspect vehicles; 19 were DUI alcohol, one was DUI drugs, one was arrested on a warrant, and four were written tickets for traffic infractions.

Preliminary data shows a total of 296 DUI arrests compared with 292 arrests in 2008.

There were three fatalities this weekend compared with four fatalities in 2008. The fatalities were in Okanogan, Skagit and King Counties.

The Aviation Section was unable to fly most of the weekend due to weather conditions.
