The Valley Regional Fire Authority officially dedicated its newest workplace, Fire Station 33, at a public grand opening on Saturday.

The VRFA’s fire station, located at 500 182nd Ave. E., is the fifth in the authority's coverage area.

Refreshments, door prizes, equipment and safety displays and entertainment by the Auburn Riverside High School Band were part of the day. VRFA personnel also gave demonstrations of a thermal imaging camera, tours of the facility and home and holiday safety information.

Voters approved the funding for the construction of Fire Station 33 as part of a capital funding measure passed in February of 2008.

The VRFA service area also includes North Auburn Station 31 at 1101 D St. NE, South Auburn Station 32 at 1951 R St. SE, Lea Hill Station 34 at 31204 124th Ave. and Pacific Station 38 at 133 3rd Ave. SE.

Editor's note:The Auburn Reporter will have more coverage on Fire Station 33's dedication in Friday's printed edition.
