Dan Roach, 31st District State Representative, announced today that he will seek election this fall to the Pierce County Council, position 1.

"I am excited to focus more on local job creation and moving local projects forward," Roach said. "I will continue to work for lower taxes, and a smaller, more accountable government."

Roach will serve the remainder of his term, but will not seek reelection.

"It has been an honor to represent the citizens of the 31st District on a state level," Roach said.

Asked what his biggest accomplishment was during his tenure, he responded, "Keeping my campaign promise to not vote for tax increases."

Asked about who will replace him in the Legislature he said, "I will not be making a primary endorsement. There are some good candidates out there and I urge the voters to find out who they are and make an informed decision."

Council district No. 1 includes all or parts of Auburn, Bonney Lake, Buckley, Carbonado, Edgewood, Graham, Greenwater, Lake Tapps, Milton, Orting, Pacific, South Prairie, Sumner and Wilkeson.

Roach is a small business owner. He and his wife Melanie own Roach Gymnastics, Inc., located in Sumner. He also is completing his fifth term as state representative for the 31st legislative district, representing parts of Pierce and King County.

The Roachs have four children and live in Bonney Lake.
