Auburn community to pay tribue to legendary coach, teacher Trimble
A celebration of the life of legendary coach and teacher “Maggie” Trimble will be held noon-3 p.m. Saturday at the Auburn Eagles, located at 702 M St. SE in Auburn.
A longtime coach and friend to many in the Auburn community, Trimble passed away peacefully on March 14, a month short of her 84th birthday.
A graduate of Blaine High School and the University of Washington, Trimble was a versatile athlete who was a pioneer, an instrumental personality in establishing and building women’s gymnastics in the state. She began a long, active and successful run as a coach and teacher at Auburn High School in 1955. She retired in 1981, but stayed active in Auburn High athletics for many years.
Remembrances may be made to the Margaret Trimble Scholarship through the Auburn School District. Arrangements are being handled by Price-Helton Funeral Home.
