City officials joined war veterans, families and supporters to honor those who served and died for their country in a special Memorial Day ceremony at Mountain View Cemetery on Monday.
The Memorial Day ceremony included comments by Auburn Mayor Peter Lewis, a solo performance of “God Bless America”, an invocation by Chaplain Michael Hursh, a color guard presentation by Boy Scout Troop 398, comments by Commander Bill Peloza from Auburn’s VFW Post 1741, and a rifle salute and taps by the Intertribal Warrior Society.
The cemetery displayed many American flags on the grounds and a small flag decorated each veteran’s grave site. Auburn’s VFW Post 1741 donated the the small American flags. Troop 401 cleaned headstones and placed flags in preparation for the day.
