WSP seeks witnesses to fatal collision on SR 167 in Auburn

Washington State Patrol detectives are seeking witnesses to a fatal collision that occurred on southbound State Route 167 at South 277th street in Auburn around 4:30 a.m. Saturday.
Four vehicles were traveling in close proximity of each other when two of the vehicles collided resulting in a rollover collision that killed 19-year-old Matthew Johnson from Kent.
Johnson was not wearing his seatbelt when his 1998 Ford Explored was struck by a 1990 Mazda RX7. Johnson’s vehicle rolled and he was partially ejected from his vehicle. Johnson was pronounced dead at Harborview Medical Center a short time later. A Dodge Neon and a Nissan Sentra also were struck.
The cause is under investigation.
