Auburn School Board honors outstanding staff member, student | Briefs

The Auburn School District Board of Directors recognized Kelly Wilson, a para-educator at Lake View Elementary, for her outstanding service at Monday’s board meeting.

Wilson has worked in Auburn for three years in the structured learning classroom. She works with special needs students and is a one-on-one para-educator.

Teacher Lori Sheehan said: “Kelly shares her knowledge, compassion and overall understanding of what kids need. She is a wonderful educator and our students are lucky to have her at Lake View.”

The school board also recognized Ellie Walter-Goodspeed, an eighth-grader at Mt. Baker Middle School, for being an outstanding student at Monday’s board meeting.

Walter-Goodspeed is active in ASB, school sports and the school newspaper. She is a natural leader, and her positive attitude is contagious.

“Our school has been fortunate to have such an incredible individual go through these halls. Ellie makes Mt. Baker a better school,” said Principal Greg Brown.
