Auburn to host town hall discussion on the opioid epidemic

The City of Auburn hosts a June 22 town hall on the increasing regional and national trend of opioid use and how it is working to combat it locally.

The program begins at 5:30 p.m. at the Auburn Avenue Theater, 10 Auburn Ave. It is open to the public.

A panel of speakers will share information and answer questions from the audience during the event.

Speakers include:

• Mayor Nancy Backus

• Commander Steve Stocker of the Auburn Police Department, who also served on the King County Heroin and Prescription Opiate Addiction Task Force

• Valley Regional Fire Authority

• Valley Cities Counseling

• Dr. Stephen Anderson of MultiCare Auburn Medical Center

• Assistant Division Director Brad Finegood of the King County Department of Community and Human Services, Behavioral Health and Recovery Division

• Auburn Resident Keith Minnar

Resource tables from Battlefield Addiction, Hope Plus Counseling, Sound Mental Health, Valley Cities Counseling and Evergreen Treatment Services will also be available at the front of the theater prior to and throughout the event.
