Commission, officials to discuss South King County transportation issues at public meeting July 25

Local officials and community leaders from Kent, Auburn and South King County meet with the Washington State Transportation Commission on Tuesday, July 25, to share their perspectives on transportation issues, challenges and successes in the region.

The public meeting is from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Council Chambers, Kent City Hall, 220 Fourth Ave. S. Persons wishing to speak to the commission may do so during the public comment period scheduled for 4:40 p.m.

The meeting features presentations on transportation topics in the region, including a discussion of transportation and economic development in the Kent area. Another panel will explore the effects of Sounder rail service on downtown Kent and planning for the Link light rail extension south from SeaTac. Representatives from the cities of Auburn, Des Moines, Kent, Federal Way, Maple Valley and King County will provide transportation briefings for their respective areas.
