Decal promotes local businesses

Sharp eyes out and about Auburn in the coming days and weeks may notice something new in the windows of local businesses.

A decal. Says, “Buy Local Auburn.”

Good thing that, buying local.

But something more is going on here.

See, that little decal is the tiny blare of city trumpets announcing the launch of a new website called BuyLocalAuburn.com, set up to promote local businesses to shoppers and others throughout the Puget Sound region.

As the holidays approach, that decal is asking shoppers to celebrate the local community during Shop Small Saturday on Nov. 30 and to look for the sticker when they head out to shop.

Business-oriented minds at City Hall created the website, and all businesses with an active business license are already listed there, so all they have to do is to log into the site to claim their profile.

The service is free, and it allows businesses to upload pictures, submit success stories to bedazzle the main page and provide other information so customers can find them.

The city is promoting the website’s launch throughout the region with digital ads and social media.

The address is BuyLocalAuburn.com/contact.
