Pacific mayor trailing write-in candidates in bid for third term

Incumbent Richard Hildreth continues to trail the write-in candidates in his bid for a third term as Pacific mayor.
The write-in entry received 453 ballots or 40 percent of the vote, according to the latest count by King County Elections.
Hildreth has received 377 votes or 33 percent of the ballots. Challenger John C. Jones has 298 votes (26 percent).
As of late Friday afternoon, election headquarters had received 45.47 percent of the Pacific vote. A total of 1,178 or the city's 2,591 registered voters were tallied.
It is unknown how many write-in candidates there are in the voting. Election officials will release those findings as the final ballots are counted.
Cy Sun officially declared himself as a write-in candidate.
In Pierce County, as of Friday's count, Hildreth had 15 votes, Jones 4.
In the race for City Council Position 6, incumbent Joshua Putnam holds a slim lead, 50-48 percent, over challenger Kevin M. Cline. Putnam has 491 King County votes, Cline has 475.
In Pierce County, Putnam has 14 votes to Cline's 12.
The next election update is Monday. The election is scheduled to be certified Nov. 29.
