Flood grant will benefit Auburn

The King County Flood Control District (FCD) Board of Supervisors on Monday gave its unanimous approval to a flood grant to increase capacity of a drainage channel culvert in Auburn.

“I am pleased to have been able to secure this funding for such a vital project,” said King County Councilmember and FCD Supervisor Pete von Reichbauer. “After years of road closures during flooding events, we will be able to provide safe, consistent access for local businesses, through-traffic, the trail and the electrical substation.”

The flood district approved $210,000 to fund this project. Capacity will be increased by replacing a 12-inch culvert with a large box culvert and will eliminate a long-term flooding problem on 37th Street Northwest and the Interurban Trail, and on the PSE property and driveway.
