Funeral processional for fallen police officer to affect local, area streets

Significant traffic impacts will occur as the funeral processional for fallen Kent Police Officer Diego Moreno moves from Emerald Downs to the accesso ShoWare Center today:

In Auburn:

At 10:45 a.m., 15th Street Northwest will be closed from A Street Northeast to SR 167.

State Route 167:

At 10:50 a.m., northbound SR 167 will be shut down between 15th Street Northwest and SR 516/Willis and will remain closed for at least an hour.

In Kent:

West James Street will be closed between 4th Avenue North-Lincoln Avenue North from 9 a.m. to 4.

West James Street between Washington Avenue North (SR 181) and Lincoln Avenue North and Lincoln Avenue North between West Smith Street and West. James Street will also be restricted to local access only.

A procession of police vehicles will go through Kent starting at about 11:15 a.m. The public can view the procession on Fourth Avenue between Willis Street and West James Street.

A public memorial service is set for 1 p.m. at the ShoWare Center, 625 W. James St.
