Honoring Bob Jones: Gymnasium sign now sports his name

Lettering for Auburn High School’s Bob Jones Gymnasium has been placed on the building – for all to see.

The gymnasium was officially dedicated March 24 in honor of Jones, the school’s longtime coach, teacher and athletic director who died March 19 after a long battle with pancreatic cancer. He was 60 years old.

Jones worked for the Auburn School District for 36 years, taught science and health for 22 of them, coached football, wrestling and boys soccer for two decades, and was the school’s athletic director for 24 years. He remained at the school for more than three years even as was fighting the cancer.
