Multi-vehicle crash claims a life in Pacific

A four-car motor vehicle crash on the southbound State Route 167 off-ramp to Ellingson Road in Pacific on Monday claimed the life of a 33-year-old Lake Tapps man, authorities reported.

The man was identified as Scott Cricchio, according to a Washington State Patrol report.

At approximately 6:57 p.m., an Algona Police officer, who witnessed the crash of a semitrailer truck and three cars, began CPR on one of the drivers. An off-duty Bellevue Police officer and an American Medical Response crew assisted.

Valley Regional Fire Authority units came on scene with King County Medic One and continued CPR, but Cricchio later died at the scene.

Drivers of the other three vehicles were not injured.

According to the State Patrol, a 62-year-old Vancouver-based semitrailer truck driver was speeding, failing to slow down on the off-ramp as he exited SR 167, striking the back of Cricchio’s car.

Cricchio’s car hit that of a 26-year-old Kent woman, who had to be taken to Auburn General Hospital with minor injuries, then hit the car of a 34-year-old Bellevue man.

The semitrailer truck driver and the Bellevue man were uninjured.
