The Auburn School District Board of Directors recognize Debbie Sumner, secondary fiscal accountant at Auburn High School, for her outstanding service at 7 p.m. Monday, Feb. 27 in the James P. Fugate Administration Building, 915 Fourth St. NE.

Sumner has worked in Auburn for 17 years. She is in her 12th year of managing the financial transactions and budget for Auburn High School.

“The kids are the best part of my job. I have fun with them. I also love the staff, we have a fantastic team,” she said.

The school board also will recognize Jeanne Tuia, a fourth-grader at Washington Elementary, for being an outstanding student.

Teacher Amber Birge said, “Jeanne is one of the most amazing children I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. She is exceptional. She works hard and doesn’t give up when things get tough for her.”

Tuia is a role model for her peers and often seeks opportunities to help staff and students. She plans to be a teacher.
