The Valley Regional Fire Authority responded to 260 calls for service between Nov. 11 and 17, among them the following:

Nov. 11

Aid call: 3:45 p.m., (Algona). Firefighters used tools to cut a toddler free without injury from the swing seat in which she was stuck at Matchett Park, and left her with her family.

Nov. 12

Carbon monoxide leak: 8:51 a.m., (Auburn). When a business’ carbon monoxide detectors started screeching, VRFA and South King Fire and Rescue headed to the 1700 block of Pike Street Northwest, evacuated employees, entered the building for air monitoring and found a carbon monoxide leak near a gas furnace. Once personnel had aired the building, they turned the scene over to Puget Sound Energy and the building’s occupants.

Nov. 13

Car fire: 7:02 p.m., (Auburn). Firefighters responding to a car fire in the parking lot of the Auburn Library got there to find the fire out and a vehicle with only minor damage.

Nov. 14

Aid call: 11:33 a.m., (Lakeland Hills). Firefighters and King County Medics evaluated a senior citizen who was complaining of shortness of breath, and a private ambulance transported her to MultiCare Auburn Medical Center (MAMC).

Nov. 15

Accident: 9:07 p.m., (Pacific). Responding to a two-vehicle, head-on collision with heavy damage, VRFA personnel zipped two teenage girls to MAMC, and King County Medics transported two critically-injured women to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.

Nov. 16

Aid call: 2:42 p.m., (Lakeland Hills). Firefighters and King County Medics responding to a young man who had overdosed on drugs learned that a family member had administered Narcan before they got there, so they evaluated him, and a private ambulance transported him to a local hospital.

Nov. 17

Aid call: 8:59 a.m., (Lea Hill). Firefighters evaluated an infant in the throes of a febrile seizure, and a private ambulance transported the little one to MAMC.
