VRFA fire and rescue blotter | April 14

The Valley Regional Fire Authority responded to 260 calls for service between April 3 and 9, among them the following:

April 3

Service call: 11:34 a.m., (Pacific). Firefighters helped a City of Pacific maintenance worker clear a downed cable line from a road.

April 4

Aid call: 8:14 a.m., (Lea Hill). Once firefighters had determined that a woman who was concerned about her high blood pressure was at increased risk for stroke, a private ambulance zipped her off to MultiCare Auburn Medical Center (MAMC).

April 5

Aid call: 9:20 p.m., (Auburn). Firefighters treated a toddler who was struggling to breathe and transported him to MAMC.

April 6

Accident: 8:08 a.m., (Auburn). Firefighters responded to a three-vehicle accident along eastbound Highway 18, where a semi-truck traveling 45 mph had rear-ended two other vehicles, injuring one middle-aged man. The injuries were minor, and no further assistance was needed.

April 7

Aid call: 7:30 p.m., (Lakeland Hills). Firefighters helped an elderly man who was having abdominal issues, and a private ambulance transported him to Overlake Hospital for further treatment.

April 8

Aid call: 9:53 a.m., (Auburn). Firefighters responded to two middle-aged women who had sustained injuries falling from a deck when its railing broke. Firefighters transported the women to MAMC for treatment.

Free electronics recycling event: 10 a.m.-6 p.m. April 21, VRFA Headquarters, Fire Station 31, 1101 D St. NE, Auburn.Valley Regional Fire Authority and UpTekk Recycling host. Those who reside within the VRFA service area are invited to bring all unwanted personal electronics, such as: computers and computer parts (computer hard drives will be wiped of personal data free-of-charge); monitors; laptops; keyboards; mice; cords; printers; ink cartridges; copiers; stereo equipment; parts; speakers; telephones; cellphones; chargers; VCRs; DVD players; TVs and LCDs. Aid call: 11:30 a.m., (South Auburn). Firefighters evaluated a woman who was complaining of lower back pain, and a private ambulance transported her to MAMC.
