VRFA fire and rescue blotter | Dec. 21

Between Dec. 10 and 16, the Valley Regional Fire Authority responded to 258 calls for service, among them the following:

Dec. 10

Accident: 2 p.m., (Auburn). Once firefighters had helped the victims of a four-vehicle accident on scene, a private ambulance transported a man and a woman to MultiCare Auburn Medical Center (MAMC), and VRFA personnel transported a second man to MAMC.

Service call: 10:56 a.m., (Pacific). Firefighters responding to a report of a tree across a roadway found a 100-foot-tall tree that had come down across the road, damaging power lines. The crew cut up the tree, helped Pacific Public Works personnel load it and summoned Puget Sound Energy to fix the power lines.

Dec. 12

Aid call: 8:56 a.m., (Lea Hill). Firefighters and King County Medics responding to a woman about to give birth delivered a healthy baby girl. Once personnel had determined that mom, dad and baby were in good shape, they arranged for a VRFA aid car to transport the mother and her wee bairn to Valley Medical Center.

Dec. 13

CPR: 12:29 p.m., (Auburn). Firefighters and King County Medics who’d been dispatched to a woman in cardiac arrest arrived on scene and began CPR, and when the woman’s heart began to beat on its own, medics transported her to MAMC.

Dec. 14

Patient assist: 3 a.m., (Lakeland Hills). Firefighters helped a senior citizen who had slipped and fallen to the floor and couldn’t get up. Personnel lifted the woman, placed her back in her chair, and after ensuring she was not injured, left her at home with her daughter.

Dec. 16

Aid call: 12:16 p.m., (Auburn). Firefighters and King County Medics evaluated a senior citizen who was complaining of chest pain, and a private ambulance transported her to MAMC for further evaluation and treatment.
