VRFA fire and rescue blotter | Feb. 1

The Valley Regional Fire Authority responded to 231 calls for service between Jan. 21 and 27, among them the following:

Jan. 21

Suspicious fire: 12:29 p.m., (Auburn). Firefighters responding to the report of a small fire in an alley found the fire out, but among the burned materials they discovered financial documents, cellphones and credit cards belonging to multiple individuals. Firefighters then asked Auburn Police and the VRFA fire investigator to check things out, took pictures of the burned documents, and left the scene in the custody of Auburn Police.

Jan. 22

Accident: 6:20 p.m., (Pacific). Firefighters dispatched to an accident involving two cars evaluated one young man, and a private ambulance transported him to MultiCare Auburn Medical Center (MAMC).

Jan. 23

Aid call: 6:43 p.m., (Algona). Firefighters responded to a woman who had fallen down her deck stairs, possibly fracturing her right arm, and a private ambulance transported her to MAMC.

Jan. 24

Aid call: 6:50 a.m., (Lea Hill). Firefighters treated a young, pregnant woman who was complaining of a rapid heart rate, and a private ambulance transported her to Covington MultiCare Medical Center.

Jan. 25

Aid call: 10:49 a.m., (Lakeland Hills). Firefighters helped a woman who was complaining of symptoms from chemical inhalation, and a private ambulance whisked her off to MAMC. for further evaluation.

Jan. 26

Carbon monoxide: 5:10 p.m., (Lea Hill). Firefighters responding to a wailing CO detector heard the homeowner explain that he had warmed up his car in his garage with the garage door and the window near his front door open, but when he returned, the CO detector was squawking. Crews checked the house for CO and helped the owner air out the structure.

Jan. 27

Flaming rubbish: 9:25 a.m., (Auburn). Firefighters responding to A Street Southeast and Lakeland Hills Way for an unknown type of fire found a small pile of debris aflame under the roadway next to the river, so they extinguished the fire. The property was not damaged.
