The Valley Regional Fire Authority responded to 183 calls for service between Jan. 13 and 19, among them the following:

Jan. 13

Fire: 1:36 p.m., (Pacific). Crews hustling to a smoke investigation found a hot tub ablaze next to a house. After firefighters verified that the structure was empty, they killed the fire. The South King County Fire Investigation Task Force investigated.

Jan. 14

Aid call: 11:04 a.m., (Auburn). After firefighters treated an older woman who had fallen and cut her head, they transported her to MultiCare Auburn Medical Center (MAMC) for further treatment.

Jan. 15

Aid call: 11:28 a.m., (South Auburn). After firefighters treated a boy for a possible clavicle fracture, they transported him to MAMC for additional care.

Jan. 16

Aid call: 10:13 a.m., (Lakeland Hills). Firefighters responded to the 500 block of Lake Tapps Parkway where a man was suffering from an irregular heart beat and difficulty breathing. After performing a medical exam alongside King County Medics, firefighters turned the man over to a private ambulance, which drove him to Valley Medical Center.

Jan. 17

Accident: 2:36 p.m., (Algona). Firefighters responding to a single vehicle into a power pole found a vehicle with heavy front-end damage and a partially broken power pole. Firefighters checked out the occupants of the vehicle before leaving them at the scene with family. Puget Sound Energy later replaced the pole.

Jan. 18

Aid call: 4 p.m., (Lea Hill). After firefighters helped an Auburn senior who’d been complaining of general weakness, a private ambulance sped him to MAMC.

Jan. 19

Illegal burn: 4:40 p.m., (Pacific). Firefighters investigating an illegal burn complaint schooled the person tending the fire on the intricacies of the residential fire permit process. Enlightened, the person agreed to extinguish the fire.
