VRFA fire and rescue blotter | July 21

The Valley Regional Fire Authority responded to 267 requests for service between July 10 and 16, among them the following:

July 10

Aid call: 6:42 p.m., (Auburn). Firefighters evaluated a man with a kidney stone, and a private ambulance whisked him off to MultiCare Auburn Medical Center (MAMC).

July 11

Aid call: 4:17 p.m., (Lea Hill). Firefighters and King County Medics treated a woman in respiratory distress, and a private ambulance transported her to St. Francis Hospital.

July 12

Kitchen fire: 12:38 p.m., (Auburn). Firefighters responding to an automatic fire alarm in an apartment building arrived to find a kitchen fire corralled by the building’s fire sprinkler system. Firefighters quickly extinguished what remained of the fire and referred the two occupants to the Red Cross for temporary housing. The fire is under investigation.

July 13

Aid call: 8:10 a.m., (Pacific). Firefighters treated a man for a crushing injury to his hand, and a private ambulance transported him to the MAMC.

July 14

Smoke investigation: 9:17 p.m., (Algona). Firefighters responding to the smell of smoke in the area of 1st Street North and State Route 167 in Algona found nothing, but drove up and down West Valley Highway to ensure there was no incident.

July 15

Aid call: 1:26 p.m., (Lakeland Hills). Firefighters responded to a man who had overdosed on medications, and a private ambulance transported him to a local hospital.

July 16

Electrical fire: 5:32 p.m., (Auburn). Firefighters responded to a small electrical fire in a wall, and finding it extinguished, allowed the homeowner to stay in her residence.
