The Valley Regional Fire Authority responded to 273 calls for service between July 15 and 21, among them the following:

July 15

Aid call: 8:27 a.m. (Lakeland Hills). Firefighters and King County Medics evaluated a middle-aged man who was complaining of chest pain, and King County Medics transported him to MultiCare Auburn Medical Center (MAMC).

July 16

Grease fire: 6:27 p.m., (Auburn). Firefighters responding to a grease fire at a McDonald’s found that an employee had pulled the extinguishing system and extinguished the fire. The fire was unintentional.

July 17

Accident: 5 p.m., (South Auburn). Firefighters responding to a two-car, T-bone accident near 21st and R streets southeast treated a young man for minor injuries and transported him to MAMC.

Residential fire: 6:34 a.m., (Auburn). Firefighters responded to the 2200 block of I Street Northeast for a fully-involved, abandoned garage that had also set aflame a nearby apartment complex. They quickly controlled the garage fire and conducted an offensive fire attack on the small apartment building. Nobody was hurt. Two displaced families received help from the Red Cross. Auburn Police determined that the fire was intentionally set and arrested a transient.

July 19

Automatic fire alarm: 1:10 p.m., (Auburn). Firefighters responding to the Outlet Collection mall for an automatic fire alarm found that a sensor in an HVAC unit on the roof had activated, so they accessed the roof with on-site maintenance and found that the unit had a bad sensor. Firefighters shut down the unit and called an HVAC repairman.

July 20

River rescue: 10:37 p.m., (Maple Valley). Swift-water technicians responded to reports that two men and a woman rafting on the Green River needed help. The swift-water team contacted the rafters and helped them across the river to safety. The rafters were uninjured.

July 21

Aid call: 12:08 p.m., (Algona). Firefighters and King County Medics treated a teenage girl for high blood sugar, and medics transported her to MAMC.
