The Valley Regional Fire Authority responded to 260 requests for service between May 21 and 27, among them the following:

May 21

Aid call: 8:15 a.m., (Pacific). Firefighters evaluating a middle-aged man who was exhibiting stroke-like symptoms found that he may have taken too many of his prescription medications. A private ambulance transported the man to MultiCare Auburn Medical Center (MAMC).

May 22

Aid call: 8:01 p.m., (Lea Hill). Firefighters evaluated and treated a young man with a cut to the eye he’d sustained while playing basketball, and a private ambulance scooted him to MAMC.

May 23

Brush fire: 1:10 p.m., (Auburn). Crews deployed a hose-line to drown a smoldering brush fire on a hillside.

May 24

Accident: 1:58 p.m., (Auburn). Firefighters responding to a vehicle over a 30-foot embankment found one vehicle on the roadway with minor damage, and an SUV that had rolled multiple times down the hill. Firefighters had to cut a fence to get to the SUV and remove the young woman inside, and a private ambulance hustled her to MAMC with minor injuries.

May 25

Dog bite: 2:27 p.m., (Auburn). Firefighters responding to an Auburn Police request to evaluate the injuries a teenage boy had sustained during his apprehension by a K9 officer learned the teen was one of three suspects police believed to had been involved in an armed carjacking. Firefighters bandaged the kid, and officers took him to MAMC.

May 26

Aid call: 10:50 a.m., (Lakeland Hills). Firefighters evaluating a woman with anxiety who was struggling to breathe advised her to seek follow-up care from her primary care provider.

May 27

Aid call: 3 p.m., (South Auburn). Firefighters responding to a senior citizen who had fallen out of his chair and couldn’t get up under his own steam helped him to his chair, and then referred him to CMT for further assistance in the future.
