VRFA fire and rescue blotter | June 22

The Valley Regional Fire Authority responded to 278 calls for service between June 11 and 17, among them the following:

June 11

Accident: 5:45 p.m., (Auburn). When Valley Com learned that a vehicle had hit a motorcycle and taken off, it dispatched firefighters to treat the injured biker. A VRFA Aid Car transported the man to MultiCare Auburn Medical Center (MAMC).

June 12

F ence fire: 5:53 p.m., (Lakeland Hills). Firefighters called to a home with a fence on fire knocked down the flames, which had spread from the fence into the surrounding landscape, and cooled sundry hot spots.

June 13

Aid call: 7:34 a.m.,(Auburn). Firefighters and King County Medics evaluated an elderly woman who was struggling to breathe, and a private ambulance transported her MAMC.

June 14

Aid call: 10:52 a.m., (Algona). At the intersection of 5th and Main in Algona, firefighters evaluated a man who had been choking on a water bottle cap but got it out. Firefighters left the man at the scene.

June 15

Aid call: 2:20 p.m., (Lea Hill). Firefighters and King County Medics evaluated a man with seizures, and a private ambulance transported him to MAMC.

June 16

Odor investigation: 10:32 a.m., (South Auburn). Firefighters responding to the smell of electrical burning in a residence used a thermal imaging camera to find an electrical outlet that had shorted out and failed. The home sustained minor damage.

June 17

Kitchen fire: 6:22 p.m., (Lea Hill). Firefighters responding to a kitchen fire in a home in the 31400 block of 113th Avenue Southeast and finding the stove and cabinet area aflame, used a hose line to extinguish the fire. No occupants were injured. Investigation pinned the fire on unattended cooking.
