The Valley Regional Fire Authority responded to 246 calls for service between May 29 and June 4, among them the following:

May 29

Aid call: 5:57 p.m., (Algona). Firefighters gave a man with low blood sugar an oral intake of high sugar fluids, and instructed him to seek further medical help from the family doctor.

May 30

Illegal burn: 11:19 a.m., (Auburn). Responding to the scene of a possible brush fire in Cedar Lanes Park, and finding that homeless folk had left an unattended, smoldering, camp fire, firefighters drowned the coals to ensure the fire was really out.

May 31

Service call: 3:39 p.m., (Lakeland Hills). Firefighters responded to a damaged fire protection system in a home, where roofers who were installing new roofing had stuck a nail through the domestic fire protection system, causing a water leak. Once firefighters secured and drained the system, an on-site building representative assumed responsibility for providing fire watch and for restoring the system and removing the water.

June 1

Accident: 1:48 a.m., (Pacific). Firefighters evaluated two teenage boys who’d been involved in a single-vehicle accident and found them without injuries.

June 2

Aid call: 10:14 a.m., (Auburn). Firefighters and King County Medics treated an Auburn senior citizen for a decreased level of consciousness, and medics transported him to MultiCare Auburn Medical Center (MAMC).

June 3

Aid call: 11:08 a.m., (Auburn). Firefighters evaluated a middle-aged woman who was complaining of leg pain, and a private ambulance zipped her off to MAMC.

June 4

Aid call: 6:56 p.m., (Lea Hill). Firefighters evaluated and treated an Auburn senior citizen who had fallen, and a private ambulance transported her to a local hospital for further treatment.
