VRFA fire and rescue blotter | May 19

The Valley Regional Fire Authority responded to 244 requests for service between May 8 and 14, among them the following:

May 8

Aid call: 5 p.m., (Algona). Firefighters and King County Medics treated an Auburn senior citizen who was choking on a piece of food, and a private ambulance transported her to MultiCare Auburn Medical Center (MAMC).

May 9

Vehicle Fire: 8:58 a.m., (Auburn). Firefighters arrived at the scene of a vehicle fire on the parking lot of the south Auburn McDonald’s to find a vehicle starting to roll toward another business in the same lot before it stopped 5 feet from its front door. Firefighters extinguished the fire and checked for extension to the building. No additional damage occurred to any structures.

May 10

Aid call: 3:10 p.m., (Lea Hill). Firefighters evaluated a middle-aged woman who was complaining of chest pain, and she chose to have her husband drive her to a local hospital.

May 11

Wires Down: 8 p.m., (Pacific). Firefighters arrived at the scene of downed wires to find high voltage power lines down along a roadway, so they secured the area and called Puget Sound Energy to respond.

May 12

Accident: 8:01 a.m., (Lakeland Hills). Firefighters responding to a vehicle accident, with one occupant trapped, examined three people — two women and a boy — and a private ambulance transported one of them to MAMC.

May 13

Aid call: 2:05 p.m., (Auburn). Firefighters evaluated a man who was complaining of hip pain after a fall, and a private ambulance motored him to a local hospital.

May 14

Fire: 3:16 p.m., (Lea Hill). Firefighters responding to a barbecue fire on the heels of reports of a man who was also on fire, evaluated a middle-aged man with first and second-degree burns to his chest and neck. The man refused transport by ambulance, and his wife drove him to Harborview Medical Center. The VRFA Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating.
