DAVID B. SCHUUR SR.

December 13, 1932 – April 16, 2018

David B. Schuur Sr. passed away peacefully April 16, 2018 due to complications with Alzheimers. He was born December 13, 1932 in Waterloo, Iowa. The Schuur family moved back to the Tacoma area when he was a child. He was the 7th of 8 children. David married Joan Reichl in Tacoma in 1952 and was married until she passed away in 1967.

He had a long 32 year career as a police officer, retiring with the rank of Captain in Auburn, Washington. He also served 20 of those years as a motorcycle policeman. His hobbies included restoring classic Chevy trucks and motorcycle riding with his son David Jr. He also enjoyed buying property and building homes. After retiring from the police department he enjoyed working with his nephews at Schuur Bros Construction.

David is survived by his children Diane Schuur, David Schuur Jr. and Elizabeth Marsh, 4 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren and his younger brother Steve. His family meant everything to him and he was very loving and generous.

In the last 30 years, he lived a life sharing his faith and serving his Lord Jesus Christ. David attended the Presbyterian Church in Sumner for many years under the leadership of Pastor Steve Starr. At his request, he does not wish to have a public memorial. The family will have a private Celebration of Life gathering.
