Delwyn â??Richard Buzard

Delwyn (Del)? ?Richard Buzard

June 7, 1922 to March 23, 2016

Del was born on June 7, 1922 to Lorena May? ?(Wyndearo) and Edwin Joseph Buzard at the family home in Aberdeen, Washington, joining his brother, Edwin J. Buzard, Jr.

Later, the family moved to Seattle, and eventually built a home on Lake Washington at Sheridan Beach Drive in Lake City. Del graduated from Bothell High School in 1941 and was looking forward to earning a teaching degree in Industrial Arts, but that was not to be, as the United States entered into WWII.

At the age of 19, Del joined the Army Air Force at Fort Lewis; he became a Sgt. for the 5th Emergency Rescue Squad, stationed at Fort Hobbs, New Mexico.

After the war, he returned to Seattle; began working for Boeing leading to his employment for Pan American Airlines as a Cargo Supervisor for over 40 years. There, he met the love of his life, Fern Webb, and they were married on July 26, 1947.

Del and Fern made their home in Auburn, raising two daughters, Cherilyn and Carol. After both daughters graduated, Del went back to work for the Auburn School District in the Maintenance Department.

He was a long-time member of the First United Methodist Church; and many civic organizations such as Eastern Star, the Masons and the Shriners.

Watching sports as well as hunting and fishing were some of our dad’s favorite activities; he especially enjoyed fishing for steel head in the Green River and trout at Lake Wapato in eastern Washington.

Del was devoted to his family who brought him pride and joy. He had just returned from a visit playing and holding his great-granddaughters, ages 2 and 8 months . The girls gave him so much love and laughter.

Del is preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Fern; his brother, Edwin, and his parents, Lorena and Edwin Buzard.

He is survived by his daughters: Carol (Richard) Hernandez, Ahwahnee, CA; Cherilyn (Cheri) Sencenbaugh, Leavenworth, WA; grandchildren: Ben (Alicia) Sencenbaugh, Orlando, FL; Amy Sencenbaugh, Seattle; Cody (Nikki), Orlando; great-granddaughters: Katelyn and Kennedy Sencenbaugh, Orlando; sister-in-law: Dorothy (Edwin) Buzard, Seattle; and nephews: Edwin (MaryEllen) J. Buzard III, Burien; and David (Chris) Buzard, Seattle.

We will miss this loving and honorable man; he was the Best Dad, Best Grandpa and Best Gran Pa Pa anyone could wish for. Our dad loved people and always looked for the “good” in every person he met and wanted the “best” for each one. He especially enjoyed times spent with his neighbors, Dick and Marian Kammeyer, Barney and Kathryn Carnino and Kevin Sheehan.

Del is buried beside his wife at Tahoma National Cemetery in Kent. A Military and Memorial Service will take place at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations given to the EMT & Fire Department, Leavenworth, WA or to the Stroke Unit at Confluence Hospital, Wenatchee.

Funeral arrangements provided by Ward’s Funeral Chapel, Leavenworth.
