SANDRA GILBERTSON BLOKZYL

In loving memory of a wonderfully caring wife, mother, grandmother — even great-grandmother.

Sandra was born in Auburn to Leo and Anita (Carlton) Parrino on May 7, 1934, and died on April 25, 2017, just a few days short of her 83rd birthday. Her death was a result of complications with a blood disease (MDS), interstitial fibrosis and pneumonia, but she fought a good fight.

She met Jim Blokzyl while working at Boeing and after a few months of courting, married him and lived at Lk Geneva for several years. During that time, she gave birth to two daughters, Paige Solsberry and Melanie Sullivan (Yakima) to go along with her first born son, Michael Gilbertson.

A sensational cook, she found time to cross stitch patterns of scenery, angels and finally many episodes of Christ’s life. We call it the “Jesus” Wall.

She is survived by her husband of 60 years, their three children, 7 grandchildren and many great-grand children.

Memorial service will be at the Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church at 2306 Milton Way, Milton, WA, at 1 PM, Saturday, May 6, 2017, with a celebration of life at the Milton Activities Center at 1000 Laurel to follow. She will interred at Mountain View Cemetery at a later date.
