Echoes From Pacific

Echoes From Pacific

"They're coming! They're coming!
The ballots are coming."
This battle cry is echoed
throughout our neighborhoods.
Tongue-to-tongue scrapping
is about to see its end.
Vote out interrupters
of the business
of the city of Pacific.
No more trouble-standards
no more mouth-shots.
Let us set a pattern
of learning from each other.
No more side steps
no more sly steps.
Put the city first in all you say and do.
The ballots are coming.
Voters will echo the final lyrics
to the swan-song of Pacific.

– Gerald A. McBreen, Pacific poet laureate
