T-Birds overpower Giants in 4-3 shootout in Vancouver
Burke Gallimore had two goals in regulation and one in the shootout Oct. 15 to help lead the Seattle Thunderbirds to a 4-3 shootout victory over the Vancouver Giants at Pacific Coliseum.
The win gave the T-Birds a four-game winning streak.
The game was tied 3-3 after overtime sending the game to a shootout.
Vancouver elected to shoot first in the shootout and sent out Craig Cunningham as their first shooter. Cunningham made a move to his left and lifted a backhand over Seattle goalie Calvin Pickard's blocker. Gallimore was the T-Birds first shooter. He came down on Vancouver goalie Mark Segal and snapped a hard wrist over the goalie's glove and off the right post to tie the shootout 1-1.
James Henry was the Giants second shooter and Pickard denied his attempt to go five-hole on the goalie. Marcel Noebels was the T-Birds second shooter and he lost the handle on the puck momentarily giving Segal the chance to poke check the puck.
Brendan Gallagher was the Giants third shooter. Pickard stopped Gallagher with a left pad save. Luke Lockhart was the T-Birds third shooter and he had the chance to win the game. Lockhart, a right-hand shot, skated down on Segal, faked a wrist shot by lifting his left leg. Segal went down and Lockhart changed his angle slightly by moving right. Lockhart then snapped the puck over Segal's glove to give Seattle the win.
