Silvertips edge T-Birds 3-2 on ShoWare ice

The Everett Silvertips defeated the Seattle Thunderbirds 3-2 Nov. 20 at the ShoWare Center.

Everett (10-8-1-3) opened the scoring at 3:42 of the first period on Josh Winquist's third goal of the season. Tyler Maxwell had the only assist.

The Silvertips stretched their lead to 2-0 at 12:31 of the first period on Maxwell's 15th goal of the season. Kellan Tochkin and Brennan Yadlowski registered assists on the goal.

Everett extended their lead to 3-0 at 12:58 of the first period on Maxwell's second goal of the game, his 16th of the season. Tochkin and Winquist had the assists.

The T-Birds cut the Everett lead to 3-1 at 16:57 of the first period on Brenden Dillon's second goal of the season. Charles Wells carried the puck through center ice and into the Everett zone during a 4-on-4. He made a move to his left and put a backhand shot on Silvertips goalie Kent Simpson. Simpson made the initial save on Wells, but Dillon was trailing and poked the puck over Simpson's left shoulder and into the back of the net.

After one period of play, Everett held the lead in shots, 11-7.

Seattle (10-5-3-3) cut the lead to 3-2 at 11:59 of the second period on a 5-on-3 power-play goal by Burke Gallimore. Travis Bobbee made a pass to Dillon at the top of the right circle, who fired a high slap shot that was deflected by Gallimore into the Everett net for his 12th goal of the season.

Everett outshot Seattle 16-10 during the second period, giving them a 27-17 advantage overall at the second intermission.

The T-Birds outshot the Silvertips 14-6 during a scoreless third period.

Calvin Pickard (10-5-2-3) made 30 saves on 33 shots.

Simpson (8-6-1-3) made 29 saves on 31 shots.

The T-Birds will welcome the Tri-City Americans to the ShoWare Center Nov. 24 at 7:05 p.m. Two days later they will have a rematch with the Silvertips at the Comcast Arena in Everett Nov. 26 at 7:35 p.m.

T-Birds' single-game tickets for the 2010-11 season are available online at the T-Birds website and at the ShoWare Center box office. The ShoWare Center Box Office is open Monday through Friday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday game days at 10 a.m. and Sunday game days at noon.
