District hoops tourneys on tap for this week | Prep basketball

The Auburn Mountainview boys and girls, as well as the Auburn Riverside girls, begin play in their respective district prep basketball tournaments this week.

• The Lion boys (5-5 South Puget Sound League 3A, 13-9 overall) kick off the West Central District III/Southwest District IV tourney against Prairie (10-3 Greater St. Helens 3A league, 16-6 overall) at 8 p.m. Tuesday at Clover Park High School in a loser-out contest. The winner moves on to face No. 10 Decatur (10-0 SPSL 3A, 17-4 overall) at 6:15 p.m. Friday at Franklin Pierce High School.

• The 3A's ninth-ranked Auburn Mountainview girls (9-1 SPSL 3A league, 17-4 overall) begin play in the WCD III/SWD IV tourney at 6:15 p.m. Friday at Franklin Pierce High school against the winner of the Kelso vs. Bremerton game.

• For the No. 7 Auburn Riverside girls (13-3 SPSL North 4A league, 17-2 overall) the West Central District III/Southwest District IV tourney begins at 7 p.m. Wednesday against Central Kitsap (11-3 Narrows League 4A, 16-4 overall) at Central Kitsap High School in Port Orchard.
