Junior running back Joey Lucchesi provided the spark for Auburn Riverside, piling up 130 rushing yards on 28 carries with two touchdowns in the Ravens' 44-21 victory over Mount Rainier in the South Puget Sound League North 4A opener at Auburn Memorial Stadium, Thursday.

Auburn Riverside pounded out 211 yards on the ground against the Rams, with junior quarterback Kevin Thomson adding 41 yards rushing and a touchdown and senior running back Salvador Greer chipping in with 18 yards and a touchdown.

In the air, Thomson was 15-of-23 passing for 134 yards, with one interception. Thomson also had one touchdown pass, a 3-yard strike to senior Adam Hanes.

On defense Hanes contributed a 48-yard interception return and two tackles for loss.

Kicker Brandon Starks notched a 26-yard field goal for the Ravens.

All told, the Ravens accounted for 345 yards of total offense.

Mount Rainier had 221 yards total offense, 135 rushing and 169 in the air. Amani Brown led the Rams with 139 yards rushing with one touchdown.

The Ravens will travel to French Field at 7 p.m. next Friday to take on Kentridge.
