Atkinson directs Trojans to 5th straight win

Brier Atkinson threw for two touchdowns and ran for a third as surging Auburn routed Jefferson 35-9 in a South Puget Sound League North 4A football game last week.
The Trojans take their five-game winning streak into Thursday's Taylor Trophy battle against Kent-Meridian. Kickoff is 7 p.m. at Auburn Memorial Field.
Atkinson has blossomed at his position, leading the way with scoring passes of 28 yards apiece to Harold Lee and Kevin Shelton. Atkinson also found the end zone from 8 yards out for Auburn, 5-1 in league and 5-1 overall.
Lee also scored on a 3-yard run, as did Shelton from 13 yards out.
Elsewhere, Kent-Meridian defeated Auburn Riverside, 24-7, last week. Kevin Thomson scored the Ravens' only touchdown on a 3-yard run. ... In SPSL 3A play, Peninsula thumped Auburn Mountainvew, 41-0.
