October 23, 2012 · Updated 11:56 AM

The Rainier Christian High School girls volleyball team is poised for their first state berth in years as they head to the league tournament Thursday.

The Mustangs have rebounded from just one win last season to have the best overall record in the Sea-Tac 1B League of 12-2, according to MaxPreps.com.

They are led by senior Olivia Lanier, who transferred last year from Auburn Mountainview but was forced to sit out the season due to WIAA transfer rules.

The Mustangs squad won an incredible 35 straight games and 12 straight matches before losing last week to Christian Faith High School.
