Auburn Riverside girls punch ticket to state | Cross country

The Auburn Riverside girls cross country team, led by senior Cassidy Brown, punched its ticket to the state 4A meet with a seventh-place, 224-point finish at the Westside Classic district meet last Saturday at American Lake Golf Course in Lakewood.

Brown finished 29th overall with a time of 19:53.5. Junior Rachel Covey crossed the finish line in 35th place with a 19:59.3 time.

Also contributing for the Ravens were sophomore Claire Kerbs and seniors Lauren Saunders, Cheri Broch, Grace Werran and Lisa Ngo.

Camas sophomore Alexa Efraimson won the 4A race, covering the 3.1-mile course in 17:52.0. Camas also finished first in the team chase with 29 points.

Also earning a spot at the state meet is Auburn senior Anna deCarteret, who finished 36th with a 20:01.6.

The state meet is Saturday at the Sun Willows Golf Course in Pasco.

Elsewhere

Auburn Mountainview freshman Christian Rotter came up big at the Westside Classic 3A cross country meet last Saturday at Lakewood. Trotter finished fourth in a time of 16:39.3, earning a berth at the state 3A showdown in Pasco.

Auburn Riverside senior Trevor Love and Auburn senior Tyler Flannery also qualified for state.
