Auburn advances to state 4A quarterfinals with 20-7 win over Eastmont | Prep football

Junior quarterback Brier Atkinson rushed for 86 yards and three touchdowns in Auburn's 20-7 first-round state 4A win over Eastmont in Wenatchee on Friday.

Auburn hosts Mead of Spokane in next weekend's quarterfinals. The Panthers (10-1) advanced with a 41-14 home win over Newport of Belleuve.

The Trojans (9-2) stayed on the ground against the Wildcats' (8-3), piling up 347 yards in the win.

Auburn's Kieo Buchanan finished with a game-high 116 yards on 10 carries and Darnell Hagans had 61 yards on eight carries.

Defensively, the Trojans held Eastmont's star running back, Darin Hargrove, to just 99 yards on 17 carries, only the second time he has been held under 100 yards this season.

Quarterback Brock Grams notched Eastmont's lone score, a 2-yard run in the fourth quarter.
