Promoters have canceled The Soul of Boxing competition scheduled for Friday, Nov. 30 at the ShoWare Center in Kent.
"We didn't get the ticket sales we were hoping for," said Jim McTaggart, spokesman for The Soul of Boxing in a Tuesday phone interview. "It looked like we were going to have a real good show. But when the numbers don't work out, you can't go forward."
Anyone who bought tickets can return to the point-of-purchase for a refund, according to the ShoWare Center website. Credit card purchases will be refunded automatically.
More than 20 amateur boxers were expected to compete in the event. Four-time light heavyweight world boxing champion, Antonio "Magic Man" Tarver was lined up to host the evening. Two music groups also were scheduled to perform.
Tickets were sold for $150, $50 and $20.
