Auburn falls to Federal Way in seeding game

Federal Way turned back Auburn 56-51 in overtime in a South Puget Sound League 4A playoff boys basketball game Thursday at the ShoWare Center.

The Eagles (14-3) outscored the Trojans (13-7) 10-5 in the extra session to earn the No. 3 seed into next week's West Central District III/Southwest District IV 4A Tournament.

Auburn will go in as the No. 4 seed.

JJ Ruffin had 22 points to lead the Trojans. Harold Lee added 10 points and Laquell Simmons had 9 for Auburn.

Brayon Blake's 23 points led the Eagles.

The Trojans will face South Kitsap in the first round of the district playoffs Thursday at Auburn High School, with time to be determined.
