Auburn boys basketball survives Federal Way 60-59, faces Jefferson in regional seeding game Monday

The Auburn Trojans sent fifth-ranked Federal Way (19-5) home with a 60-59 loss Saturday in the West Central District III/Southwest District IV tournament at Mount Tahoma High School.

The win earns the Trojans(15-9) a berth in the state 4A regional tournament, which begins Feb. 23.

On Monday, Auburn takes on South Puget Sound League North 4A rival Jefferson (15-9) to determine seeding into the regional tournament. Tipoff is 5:45 p.m. at Mount Tahoma High School.

The winner of that game will play No. 3 Jackson (23-0) at 6 p.m. next Saturday at Jackson High School.

A loss relegates the Trojans to a game against either either No. 7 Curtis (22-2) or No. 10 Bellarmine Prep (13-7) next Saturday at Puyallup High School.
