Clemens Brook continued her hard-hitting ways Friday night at Emerald Downs.

The 6-year-old mare hugged the rail and notched a 1 1/4-length victory in the $12,050 feature race for older fillies and mares. With Eliska Kubinova riding, Clemens Brook ran six furlongs in 1 minute, 9.58-second and paid $8.20, $4.40 and $3. David Tollett is the winning owner and trainer.

A Washington-bred by Petersburg, Clemens Brook has finished first or second in 15 of 23 career starts, including a 5-4-1 mark in 14 races at Emerald Downs. Friday’s victory, worth $6,353, pushed her career bankroll to $44,727.

Clemens Brook led through hotly contested fractions of :21.99 and :44.60, drew 2 ½ lengths clear past mid-stretch and held off a late bid by Just Have’n Fun.

Just Have’n Fun, ridden by Jennifer Whitaker, rallied belatedly for second place and paid $4.60 and $3.40. Touch of Elegance, Javier Matias riding, was 2 ¼ lengths back in third and paid $4.60.

NOTES: Debbie Hoonan wrenched a knee in a training mishap Friday morning and was off her six scheduled mounts Friday. Hoonan, who escaped serious injury in a paddock mishap Sunday, is tied with Anne Sanguinetti for sixth place in the jockeys’ standings with 14 wins apiece... Isaias Enriquez rode two winners and pulled within five wins–40-35–of Juan Gutierrez atop the jockeys’ standings... Gutierrez is gone Friday and Saturday to attend his daughter’s graduation from University of California Davis, but returns Sunday and rides Rocky’s Quest in the $50,000 Budweiser Handicap for 3-year-olds and up... In the trainers’ race, Jeff Metz and Chris Stenslie each had one win, and Metz continues to lead Stenslie by a 19-17 margin. Those figures reflect Thoroughbred events only... Fifth race winner Last Diamond ($8.80) was claimed by trainer Sharon Balcom. There were six claims in for fourth-place winner Cresent McGain, with Roy Lumm winning the shake for the 5-year-old gelding... Corrinas Seeker ($16.60) led all the way in race two, giving trainer Chris Brownlee his first Emerald Downs victory. Brownlee most recently trained at Les Bois Park in Boise... Live racing continues Saturday with first post 2:15 p.m.
