Six Auburn Mountainview gymnasts qualified to compete in the district meet with their performances at this past Saturday's South Puget Sound League Championships at Mount Rainier High School in Des Moines.

The Lion girls, led by senior captain and all-arounder Hanna Houck – will compete at the West Central District III/Southwest District 4 3A Championships Saturday for a chance to move on to the state 3A meet.

Houck qualified with an eighth-place, 32.900 all-around performance at the league meet.

In individual events, senior Kelly Waltrous qualified to compete in the vault (8.175) the beam (7.775) and the floor (7.650).

Senior Emily Morgan also qualified in three events, pushing on in the uneven bars (6.300), the beam (7.275) and floor exercise (7.850).

Rounding out the Lion's district qualifiers are Brianna Provo (7.700 vault and 7.750 floor), freshman Jocyline Lacey-Wood (5.700 uneven bars) and Delaney Ralph (7.500 beam).

The Auburn Mountainview girls' finished fourth in the team competition with 146.275 points.

"The girls did great last weekend. We had some falls which held a couple of the girls from advancing in events but it happens," Auburn Mountainview head coach Andrew Stranack said. "I was very happy with how they performed and I know this week they will work harder to improve for this weekend's districts meet. With regards to their chances to advance to state, I think they all have a chance but it's going to be up to them and how bad they want it. It's not going to be easy. I believe they can do it."

Defending state 3A champ Enumclaw moved on to the district meet as a team, capturing the league meet title with 171.075. Decatur also moves on with it's 158.950 team finish.

Enumclaw's Olivia Bannerot was first in the all-around competition with a 37.850 finish and teammate Emily Berte was second with a 35.275.

The district tournament starts at 10 a.m. Saturday at Mount Rainier High School.

The Washington State 3A Gymnastics Championships are Feb. 21-22 at the Tacoma Dome Exhibition Hall.
